Week X - Final DAY :( (cont'd)

I cannot believe it has already been 10 weeks. Where has all the time gone? If this is in any way indicative of the speed of one's life, one's days, then I will surely be an old man after blinking my eyes a few times.

1. As of today I am still working with the Help Desk to troubleshoot the Marshalls Coverage Spreadsheet. Unfortunately it has not been resolved.

2. Met with two people who are in charge of in store signage and some direct mail pieces. It's a fascinating aspect of Marketing that I would love to get acquainted with.

3. Added my last three Marshalls GO's in iAnalyze.

4. Completed my last work in iBuy on two TJ Maxx GO's.

5. Had the last meeting with a co-worker with reference to my resume. I was truly delighted to get great feedback from everyone.

* Just a short note: I will begin writing my 10 page paper next week. Still, I can't help but reaffirming how great TJX is. This was a fantastic, meaningful job. I learned an incredible amount, forged great friendships, networked, and got a lot more than I could have ever hoped from it. TJX is surely a dream corporation. Pinch me!
Week X - Final Week (cont'd)
Thursday

1. Spent the entire day off site in Sonalysts Studios (Waterford, CT). Unbelievable day. The company literally has its own campus replete with multiple, large buildings. They have recorded everyone from Aerosmith to Luther Vandross. They also design games, produce videos, animation, analysis, training, simulation, etc. They do a great deal of government work, hence their name, short for "Sonar Analysts." The studio was modeled after one of the most famous studios in NYC, "Power Station." I have been in quite a few studios, none matching the breadth of this one - I was really impressed. They even have three full sound stages so that Aerosmith, for example, can practice on a set that replicates the one they will use in a real concert.

That said...I was there with two associates of mine, our purpose was: Radio Record for one of our divisions. Talent included a female singer, a female rapper, and a male rapper. People from various agencies, talent, broadcast were present. I was highly impressed with the professional atmosphere and was not surprised that there were some minor setbacks, as there always are when such a project is undertaken.

The experience that I received yesterday was fantastic. Working off site with others, meeting talent, directors, agency representatives, engineers, all at a full service shop was fantastic.

What a fantastic "second to last" day to have!

Week X - Final Week (cont'd)

1. Completed coverage reports for Marshalls through 9/03. Since the original file, however, is still corrupted my work may have to act as a more permanent, ancillary document.

2. Brought in a copy of my resume for revision/updates. Will incorporate it into my meetings during the remainder of the week.

3. Completed TJ GO (Runlists, Cost Summary, IO's etc), still awaiting the size modification for one of the insertions on another TJ GO.

4. Attended the "Shael is leaving we are so sad" goodbye party.

5. Spoke with store managers in 6 of our AJ Wright stores to determine the ratio of African American to Hispanic shoppers --> cross checking for a theory we had based on heat maps from Real Estate.

Week X - Final Week (cont'd)

1. 99% completed the TJMaxx GO insertion in iBuy - resolved one of two issues we encountered.

2. Completed another insertion for a TJMaxx GO.

3. Met with my boss to round out discussions about my last week (this week), and to discuss the status of certain projects. I am in a perfect position to exit, having completed all of the projects I was assigned this summer.

4. Scheduled meetings with co-workers in my department to give stats, discuss resume updates, and formally wrap-up the summer.

5. Rescheduled a 3pm meeting (now Friday 11am) to discuss in-store creative and advertising. I thought it would be a good idea to meet with certain associates, in areas of particular interest, before I departed for the summer - especially since I admittedly no little about this type of advertising.

6. An Excel issue in the Marshalls Coverage Report set back my progress on the project. Since it has yet to be resolved I have created a temporary document which I plan on merging with the original once it is restored. I was able to add all Marshalls GO's through FY03 (2002).

7. Newspaper Project: Initially I was supposed to subpoena the information for this project and then compile it in a coherent fashion. Time constraints, however, retarded my work on this project. I passed it along to one of my associates who will make sure it reaches fruition.

8. Gave a co-worker a mini-refresher course on iAnalyze.

Week X - Final Week (cont'd)

1. Made small adjustments to/on Outdoor vendors.

2. Added a new TMC product to TJX and AJ Wright for an up coming event.

3. Placed an insertion for an August TJMaxx GO. Ran into a technical difficulty when adding one of the papers. I'm working with MediaMart to resolve the issue.

4. Completed Coverage Report for AJ Wright and began coverage report for Marshalls (by far the most difficult do to the high number of store openings per year).
