Week V (cont'd)

1. Still continuing my work on the contracts. I have certainly made some progress and my pile is slowly but surely diminishing.

2. Random Mental Note of The Day: You know you're so busy and utterly inundated with work that you forget that you were supposed to attend an intern luncheon on Thursday, June 27th 12pm-2pm - oops! Good thing there are still 3 remaining!

3. I continued working on the coverage reports for the two new GO's but technical difficulties in iAnalyze continued to plague my work, resulting in my decision to halt work on this project until the issues are resolved.

4. Opened a new event in iBuy, only the second or third one that I've done in this package (I've done quite a few in iAnalyze). I entered in the information from the Media Input I received and then allocated items were neccessary. Following I ran the Cost Summary and Insertion Orders to verify that the information was correct before handing it in.

Week V (cont'd)

1. Continued working on contracts.

2. Alerted one of my coworkers to the existence of a new paper in New York City. She asked me to gather research and generate a PowerPoint presentation for display to our department.

3. MediaMart (the subdivision of NSA who publishes the iBuy and iAnalyze software) released a system update/upgrade mid-week. The upgrade generated many problems on our end, which we needed to rectify to complete our assignments. I ran into a few such issues that significantly slowed me down and my ability to do my work.

4. Selected media for two new GO's, plotted them on the map along with coverage for each individual paper and demographics. I then printed out the results so that we could visually see our coverage for each paper within the stores' respective trade radii as well as the overlayed demographics. Following, I printed out a Store Report by Trade Radius which allowed me to convey the same information (minus one of the demos.) in a quantitative form.

5. Asked rep from the magazine I completed negotiations with to send us a contract and some information on mechanicals etc.

Random Fact

Just did some rough math and realized that I will have worked 187.5 hours by the end of this week, roughly 5 weeks @ 37.5 hours/week. I have 5 or 6 weeks remaining which yield me a minimum of 375 hours (@ 5 weeks). This is more than enough to secure 3 credits (the max. for any internship throughout Yeshiva - 100 hrs=1cr).
Week V (cont'd)

1. Continued working on contracts.

2. Had a quick refresher for setting up Events in iBuy (I've already set up events countless times in iAnalyze). Following I set up a Home Event for AJ Wright - an interesting process, fun actually. I then called the reps to give them a heads up and let them know that we are running on x date, what type of ad (4-color, 42" etc), and when they will be receiving the IO's and the ad itself.

3. Spent the better part of the morning making revisions on the FY 04 Rate Report Card. After today it should be 100% complete and ready for distribution.

4. Deactivated a large number of paper in iBuy - now they will no longer appear on our buy list.

5. Attended a departmental joint-birthday lunch for two co-workers - we went to a nearby park/quasi-beach. The weather was incredible and it was a much-needed break after some hard work and weeks of rain!

Week V (cont'd)

1. Continued my second round of follow-ups with the newspaper vendors. Countless people still owe me many promised documents.

2. Made a few more changes to stores in iAnalyze, also gathered information on our Chicago DMA for a coming market trip.

3. Was in the middle of amending and updating the TMCs I inputted into iBuy when I encountered an error (of the technological variety). I put in a call to our tech and she's looking into it for me. I will proceed once it is resolved.

4. I received the Daypart Summaries from our agency and compiled and inputted the information into the respective media plans. It is interesting to see which stations are most highly ranked [and which are not].

5. Our rep. from the Boston Globe drove up from Boston to deliver the information he uncovered for the newspaper project (the one that was initiated a few weeks ago).

6. Attended a meeting with The Boston Metro.

7. Resumed negotiations with the magazine I was working with. We finally reached a fantastic consensus leaving both parties happy and satisfied. I was thrilled to save the company such a significant sum of money :)

Week V - It's the FIFTH week already!

1. Had a one on one status update with a coworker who was out of the office this past week (I was working on the Arbitron and TMC projects for him). We spoke about what I've done so far, what remains, and had a little Q and A session. Made some changes based on our conversation and continued the project. After completing the radio analysis for the markets I researched I compiled the information and imported it into the media plan (one for each GO). I grouped the columns by radio station (call sign), ranking, AQH, format, and daypart. I then juxtaposed the top stations in the Metro area with the stations within a 5-mile radius of the GO. My coworker was pleased with my work and gave me the additional responsibility of acquiring similar information for TV. I requested the Nielsen information (Daypart Summary) from one of our ad agency reps. I will work on this aspect tomorrow.

2. Started a new Grand Opening in iAnalyze. After adding the store to the master list I mapped it and pulled media coverage (% and totals) by zip code within a 7- mile radius. After analyzing the data I selected the media that I wanted to run - print only - and printed a media coverage report based on my selections.

3. Was asked to read and comment on an online promotional proposal (a contest with an online vendor).

4. Began my second round of follow-ups with the newspaper vendors. Countless people still owe me many promised documents.

5. Made a few modifications to the store database on iAnalyze due to GO's that were scratched, fell off, or were pushed back.
