Week VIII (cont'd)
1. Attended Life of a Little Red Blouse training session during the first half of the day. I found it highly informative and enlightening. The Merchandising process is long and involved. The session only allowed me a glimpse of the cusp, but I can say with certainty that I am now at least "familiar" with the whole process. It is, to be sure, rather breathtaking.
2. Modified an insertion for a TJMaxx store relocation. Verified, printed, saved and sent the IOs and Cost Summaries.
3. Continued my work on the Media Costs per DMA project for AJ Wright.
4. Added a new TMC to AJ Wright. Modified the contract batch, created the buy areas, and assigned a rep, dma, and division.

Week VIII (cont'd)
1. At the behest of one of my co-workers I added an additional, albeit smaller, market to the Demographics Comparison I completed yesterday. I believe the thinking behind this move was that perhaps a smaller market would show a more manifest change in the demographic skeletons that we employ (in our analysis). The differences were negligible at best.
2. Had a WebEx session with our IMS Tech. this afternoon. We reviewed our problems in real-time and hammered out a few of the issues. The others will be summarily handled by their programmers.
3. Was asked to work on a new Cost Summary project for AJ Wright. Ultimately it will be given to our ad agency. This, perhaps, is one of the most difficult - and by definition, exciting - assignments I've worked on thus far. It involves cross- referencing a number of quantitative and qualitative documents across a board spectra of events. Once the preliminary calculations are made, adjustments are likely necessary. These adjustments, far from simple, require a lot of work and manpower to complete.
* Needless to say I am now exhausted.
4. Added a few Marshalls GOs to iAnalyze, plotted the stores, selected media, and processed a Store Report by Trade Radius (aka - coverage report).
5. Completed my status for tomorrow's meeting.

Week VIII (cont'd)
1. Completed the Demographics Comparison project for my co-worker. I put a lot of effort into it and was pleased with the results, as was my colleague. We were, however, disappointed with the figures that it yielded, but that is extraneous to my responsibilities on this project.
2. Received a new IMS software build today. It still did not solve our issue and my have created a new problem as well.
3. Plotted two AJ Wright stores in iAnalyze to determine newspaper coverage in our trade radius. Printed out a Store Report by Trade Radius.
4. Requested that MediaMart add three, currently unlisted, papers to the iAnalyze and iBuy print databases.
5. Completed FSI Runlist for the TJMaxx Preprint Insertion I was working with yesterday.
6. Paid a visit to my contact at Real Estate to discuss the AJ Wright Sales project I've been working on (see Wednesday, July 9th #7). He will compile the updated heatmaps and the reports we need.

Week VIII
1. Received and installed an IMS Update, which is supposed to solve the bug we uncovered in one of the media programs. Unfortunately it did not work. A newer update is being FedEx'd to my attention this week.
2. Finished mixing the last DMA in MediaMix for the IMS project. Now I must compile the data, break it down, and present it. I will likely use an excel spreadsheet since it allows me the versatility of showing quantitative data in columnar and chart formats.
3. Inputted a new Insertion for TJMaxx into iBuy. This one, for me, was slightly anomalous as it contained some preprint (FSI, specifically) in addition to the standard ROP. Following I saved and printed the IOs and Cost Summary and then sent off the insertions.
4. On Friday I will be attending a half-day training session, from 915am - 1pm, entitled "Life of a Red Blouse." Similar to the short film I viewed a few weeks ago this session familiarizes employees with the merchandising process. Meeting with vendors and ordering clothing for stores, tagging, shipping, receiving, etc. This should give me a great insight into the big picture of distribution.
5. Had a 30 minutes meeting with three co-workers concerning a Jeapordy "Brown Bag" that we are producing with one of our agencies next week.
6. Created a new HomeGoods GO in iAnalyze, added the store, selected the media, and produced a coverage report.
7. Researched a Californian newspaper.
